Katie Mae Owens hopes to major in Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law and minor in Leadership in Public Policy. She is originally from Brunswick, GA, and aspires to Double Hoo for law school. At present, Katie Mae is also involved on grounds as an intern with the UVA Athletic Department, the Marketing Co-Chair of Undergraduate Women in Law, a Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity Member, a Chi Alpha Fellowship Member, amongst other organizations across Mr. Jefferson's university. Katie Mae has taken various Public Speaking courses at the College of Coastal Georgia in addition to UVA, and is excited to help her peers grow in their public speaking skills. She believes that being able to efficiently and effectively communicate is one of the most important skills one could have, whether you want to enact change or improve your grades. Katie Mae has presented many speeches across all levels of platforms, whether it be as valedictorian to her 500+ graduating class, as a delegate to hundreds of collegiate Model UN members, as a leading volunteer for Special Needs Proms, or as a student presenting a bibliographic presentation on a president. She is excited to contribute to the UVA Speaking Center as it starts back with helping students.
